About Iris F Salmins

Iris F Salmins

Iris Salmins was born in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1996 while living in Riga, Latvia, her future husband became her translator. She discovered that if she wanted to be with him on his “off-time,” she would need to hang out with him as he painted. So, what was a girl to do? She went out and bought canvases, paints, brushes, and an easel. Her gift of painting abstracts surfaced and she began her art adventure. In Riga, Latvia her paintings were exhibited in curated exhibits at the Holocaust Museum and the City Hotel Teater. After coming back to the States, she won first place in a juried exhibition which was judged by the director of the Glassell School, which is part of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
